The exam pattern for JEE Advanced 2026 will remain the same as in previous years. The organizing institute, Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), has officially confirmed on its website that there will be no changes to the existing exam format for 2026.
JEE Advanced is a prestigious national-level engineering entrance examination that provides a pathway for science enthusiasts to secure admission to their desired engineering colleges. Annually, around 2.5 lakh students from science backgrounds appear for this exam across the country, aiming to fulfil their dreams of studying in top engineering institutions.
IIT Roorkee has announced that the JEE Advanced 2026 exam will be held on 17th May 2026 (Sunday). This Computer-Based Exam is conducted on a rotation basis by seven prestigious IITs: IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati .
JEE Advanced qualifying candidates have the opportunity to pursue Bachelor’s degrees, Integrated Master’s programs, and Bachelor-Master Dual Degrees. The offered degrees include BS, B.Tech, B.Arch, B.Tech-M.Tech Dual Degree, BS & MS Dual Degree, Integrated M.Sc., and Integrated M.Tech.

Candidates must meet all five of the following criteria. Candidates will be disqualified if any of these requirements are not met.
Foreign national candidates must meet a distinct set of qualifying requirements. Candidates who are not Indian citizens, or whose parents are not from India, are regarded as foreign nationals. Candidates not falling under the OCI/PIO criteria are counted as foreign nationals.
As per the Supreme Court of India decision dated February 03, 2023 (Writ Petition Civil 891/2021), OCI/PIO candidates who secured their OCI/PIO card before March 4, 2021 shall be considered as Indian nationals for the purpose of IIT admissions.

After the JEE Main 2026 results are declared, the application form for JEE Advanced 2026 will be released on the official website. Qualifying candidates must register and fill out the application form online, followed by payment of the application fee.

Students are strongly advised to take mock tests regularly after completing the syllabus. Mock tests help in understanding the exam pattern, assessing preparation levels, and building speed, accuracy, and time management skills.

Candidates who have registered and paid the application fee will be issued an admit card mentioning their designated test centre. The admit card will be available for download from May 11, 2026 to May 17, 2026.
Candidates must carry the admit card along with a valid photo ID to the exam centre. Entry will not be permitted without these documents.
After the exam, provisional answer keys for Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be published on the official website. Candidates can verify their answers and submit challenges if required. Following a review of all challenges, the final answer keys and results will be declared. Candidates will also be able to view and download their response sheets for both papers.

Candidates can download their scorecards after result declaration, which will be required for participation in the JEE Advanced counselling process.
The cutoff marks represent the minimum marks a candidate must secure to qualify for counselling. Candidates must satisfy both subject-wise and aggregate qualifying marks to be included in a rank list. The maximum marks for JEE Advanced 2026 paper is 360.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) conducts the common seat allocation process entirely online. Seats across IITs, IIITs, NITs, and other Government-Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs) are distributed among qualified candidates through this process.
To participate, candidates must have secured a valid rank in JEE Advanced 2026. All eligible candidates must fill out their preferred list of courses and institutions on the JoSAA portal to participate in the counselling and seat allocation process.
